About the Event

Proper disclosure of a survivor’s therapy records remains one of the most confusing elements of a therapist’s role and it can place a burden of responsibility on them which could get in the way of their work in supporting a survivor to prepare for a potential court case.  Disclosure remains one of the most important and complex issues in the criminal justice  system, and it should be a priority for agencies and therapists to access training to  encourage improvements in disclosure practice in order to ensure the disclosure regime operates effectively, fairly and justly.

This one-day workshop will equip the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding in handling pre-trial cases efficiently and effectively. Furthermore, the training will improve the learner’s confidence and enable them to challenge any requests for disclosures where they do not appear to be of a ‘reasonable line of enquiry’. The new guidance issued by the Attorney General in May 2022 is fully considered in this training along with some case studies to identify good practice as well as a number of  templates to support the learner and their agency with the necessary documentation required for provision of a pre-trial therapy support service.
