Proper disclosure of a survivor’s therapy records remains one of the most confusing elements of a therapist’s role and it can place a burden of responsibility on them which could get in the way of their work in supporting a survivor to prepare for a potential court case. Disclosure remains one of the most important and complex issues in the criminal justice system, and it should be a priority for agencies and therapists to access training to encourage improvements in disclosure practice in order to ensure the disclosure regime operates effectively, fairly and justly.
This one-day workshop will equip the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding in handling pre-trial cases efficiently and effectively. Furthermore, the training will improve the learner’s confidence and enable them to challenge any requests for disclosures where they do not appear to be of a ‘reasonable line of enquiry’.
